'A very pleasant surprise': Singapore sprinter Shanti Pereira breaks her own 100m national record

Seven months after she rewrote her own 100m national record, Shanti Pereira did it again at the New Zealand Track and Field Championships in Wellington on Friday (Mar 3). The 26-year-old clocked a time of 11.46s in her heats, eclipsing her previous national record by 0.02s.

Sembawang and Tampines North Polyclinics to open this year

After delay, Sembawang Polyclinic will open its doors this year, along with a new polyclinic at Tampines North.This was announced by the Ministry of Health (MOH) during its Committee of Supply debate on Friday (Mar 3).

Sembawang Polyclinic will be developed as part of the Bukit Canberra integrated hub and is located near Sembawang MRT station, while the new polyclinic in Tampines, will be located near the future Tampines North MRT station.

Salaries for social service sector to go up by between 4% and 15%

The salaries of workers in the social service sector will be raised by between 4 per cent and 15 per cent from Apr 1, Minister for Social and Family Services Masagos Zulkifli said on Friday (Mar 3).

The Ministry of Social and Family Services (MSF) and the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) have revised the salary guidelines for the sector across all professions and job levels, MSF said in a press release.

"A strong core of passionate and competent professionals is especially crucial ... they need to be given due recognition and supported in their work," said Mr Masagos during the Committee of Supply debate on his ministry's budget.

NTU first in Singapore and among top 10 most cited research organisations globally by innovators

NTU Singapore has placed globally at No. 7 among research organisations most cited by the world's top innovators, underscoring the University’s strengths in industry-relevant research. NTU is also the only Singapore institution in the top 10. The World’s Top 50 Most Cited Research Organisations ranking for 2023 was released for the first time by United Kingdom-based global information services provider Clarivate.

The ranking is based on the number of research papers referenced by the inventions of organisations in Clarivate’s 2023 edition of its Top 100 Global Innovators list, which has been running for over 10 years.

Russian EMERCOM took part in INSARAG event in Singapore

In the Republic of Singapore, the activities with the participation of heads of search and rescue teams certified under the methodology of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) were completed.

During the meetings, relevant experts discussed current issues of INSARAG activities, technical issues on training and exchange of best practices in the actual rescue operations, as well as improving cooperation between international search and rescue teams.

The participation of Russian EMERCOM staff in the event was aimed to strengthen multilateral international cooperation and increasing the level of training of Russian rescuers in responding to emergencies abroad.
