Singapore employees to see 3.5% salary increase in 2022

Workers in Singapore will see a higher increase in their salaries in 2022, with expected average salary increases of 3.5%, according to ECA International's Salary Trends Report. 
After factoring in inflation, set to remain around the same levels as this year at 1.5%, employees in Singapore will see a real salary increase of 2.0% on average, up from 1.2% this year.
As in previous years, the Asia Pacific region is expected to lead with salary increases for workers again. The predicted average real increase is 1.9%, higher than any other region, with the global real salary increase forecasted to be just 0.9% on average.

Singapore signs declaration to reverse deforestation

Singapore signed a declaration that aims to halt and reverse deforestation by 2030, joining over 100 countries in the pledge.
Minister for National Development Desmond Lee said backing the Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration on Forests and Land Use reaffirms Singapore’s commitment to developing city sustainability whilst conserving nature within its urban environment.
Lee also said that the pledge is in line with Singapore’s City in Nature vision which pushes for the conservation and protection of the city’s core biodiversity areas; enhancement and restoration of its natural habitats; and strengthening of its ecological resilience.

Singapore exports up 17.9% in October

Singapore's non-oil domestic exports (NODX) was up by 17.9% in October y-o-y, the latest government data showed. 
Total trade grew by 24%, higher than the 18.6% growth recorded the previous month. Total exports jumped by 22.7%, while total imports followed with a 25.6% increase. On a m-o-m basis, total trade grew by 5.4%, following the 0.2% increase from last month. Total trade was seen at $100.9b, an increase from last month’s $95.8b.

Singapore opens VTLs to five more countries

In a multi-ministry task force press conference on 15 November, Transport Minister S. Israwan announced the opening of five additional vaccinated travel lanes (VTLs).
From 29 November, Singapore will launch unilateral VTLs with Indonesia and India. The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar will all get VTLs from 6 December. In addition, the country will increase the daily quota for VTLs from 6,000 to 10,000.

CAAS to pilot use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel in 2022

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) said its pilot program on the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Changi Airport will commence in 2022.
The one-year pilot was will be done in partnership with Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Singapore-headquartered global investment company Temasek.
